UAB Hoops Preview: UAB vs. Winston-Salem StateCUSA-fans.com has a new staff of team correspondents this season to help bring you, the fan, more detailed Conference USA sports coverage. Today, our new UAB Correspondent Joe Schillaci, Jr. previews the basketball game between UAB and Winston-Salem State. Saturday, December 23rd – 8 pm (EST) – Bartow Arena Winston-Salem State (1-14) will travel to Birmingham, Alabama to take on the UAB Blazers (6-6). Winston-Salem is on an 11-game losing streak and coming off a 94-43 thrashing at the hands of the Kansas Jayhawks. UAB is coming home after a tough road trip to Virginia where they lost two games to old Sun Belt foes Virginia Commonwealth and Old Dominion. UAB turned the ball over too much and scored too little in both games. Winston-Salem State is just what the doctor ordered for UAB. The Blazers will be home where they have shot the ball best. This game may be close for the first 10 minutes, but once UAB starts pounding the ball inside and hitting the three, Winston-Salem State won't have an answer and will go down without much of a fight. Players to watch for Winston-Salem State are Curtis Hines (SR., guard) and Darius Floyd (FR., guard). Floyd posted 17 points and five boards against the Jayhawks. Junior guard Paul Delaney, III, leads UAB. Delaney has been awarded Conference USA player of the week twice this season. Prediction: UAB 88 - Winston Salem State 60 (and it won't be that close)
