Can ECU give Wake Forest a run for their money?

The East Carolina Men’s Basketball team will be facing an intense match up against the undefeated, Demon Deacons of Wake Forest Monday night in Minges Coliseum. With a tough loss to NC State this past Wednesday night the Pirates, 8-2, are looking to push hard through the ACC No. 10 ranked Demons who stand undefeated with a record of 9-0.

After a tough loss two seasons ago to Wake Forest, ECU has to focus on their great offensive skills to keep them in the game. With senior guard Sam Hinnant on the court, with 17.5 points a game, he must stay dedicated to his field goal shots and do what he can to get to the basket. In addition to Hinnant, ECU has the senior guard James Legan to push forward with getting shots from the 3 point line. After a hard blow to the mouth Wednesday, sophomore Brock Young will definitely be coming back Monday with more intensity and aggression to help push the team to a possible victory. Freshman forward, Darrius Morrow, who averages about 8.5 rebounds per game, has what it takes defensively to hold the Pirates back from too many turnovers. As long as the Pirates handle the ball smart and keep the Demons from scoring fast in the first half, they have a good chance.

Wake Forest is on a domination spree, with their undefeated record. Sophomore guard, Jeff Teague, is running with 19.4 points per game is determined to increase his points against the Pirates. The Demons are looking to come into Minges to and take the Pirates for a ride. But this year the Pirates are a different team and have the ability to actually take this ACC team for an intense ride.
