ECU Lady Pirates Head South to Miami

Can ECU dominate like they did in the Bahamas?

As the East Carolina Women’s Basketball team is taking a well deserved Christmas break, they are also preparing for the Florida International University Sun and Fun Classic, a two day tournament that will be held in Miami, Florida on December 29th and 30th.

The Lady Pirates are currently sitting in the top spot in C-USA standings with a record of 8-3. After just recently returning back to the United States from the Bahamas Sunshine Shootout, the ladies hold the Championship from the tournament and hope to travel down to Miami and earn the FIU Championship as well. The Pirates will first face-off with Marist on the first day of the tournament. Marist College, located in New York State, will be traveling down to Florida with a 9-1 record, landing at the top spot of their conference, the MAAC.

The first game of the tournament starts at 5:00PM in the FIU Arena where Florida International will take on Georgia Southern. Following will be East Carolina taking on Marist College at 7:00PM. The losers between the two match-ups will play each other for the Consolation bracket than the winners will play each other for the Championship on the 30th.

With the Lady Pirates eager and ready to return to the hardwood, Monday night’s match-up against the Red Foxes will be one to watch. Those Pirate fans who should happen to be in the Miami area Monday and Tuesday, don’t forget to catch the Pirates dominate the FIU Tournament in Miami, Florida on December 29th and 30th.
