Pirates prepare for first fall practice of McNeill eraEast Carolina set to embark on 2010 campaign under new coach
After reporting back to campus on Thursday, East Carolina will begin its first fall camp under first-year head coach Ruffin McNeill on Friday afternoon with a light workout at Hight Field inside Cliff Moore Practice Facility. The Pirates, who will be looking to capture a third consecutive Conference USA title, lost 28 seniors from last year’s team and will have many questions it will start seeking to answer.
One of the biggest battles to watch will be at quarterback. Who will emerge from the pack to lead Lincoln Riley’s aerial attack? Walk-on Brad Wornick topped the depth chart after spring ball, but many like the odds of former Boston College signal-caller Dominique Davis winning the job. Defensively, East Carolina will be forced to reconstruct its entire front seven and build on the strength of two solid returning cornerbacks. Stay tuned to cusa-fans.com as we will provide updates as the Pirates progress through camp and toward their September 5th, nationally-televised season opener against CUSA West foe Tulsa.
