Former Alabama player Alfy Hill to enroll at East CarolinaWest Brunswick star will come to Greenville as a non-qualifier
East Carolina was one of the numerous schools Alfy Hill received a scholarship offer from out of high school, but the former West Brunswick star pledged to play for Nick Saban and 2009 BCS champion Alabama. However, due to some complications with his high school transcript, Hill was recently ruled ineligible by the NCAA Clearinghouse. Now, rather than attend prep school, Hill has opted to enroll at East Carolina as a non-qualifier. Therefore, he won’t receive any athletic funding and must make the grades before being granted eligibility.
Hill, who was playing linebacker during preseason camp at Alabama, was an Under Armour All-American following his senior year at West Brunswick High School. The highly regarded 6’4, 250-pounder also had scholarship offers from the likes of Michigan, LSU, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, West Virginia, South Carolina, Arkansas, Clemson, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, N.C. State, Duke, Kentucky and Maryland. If he proves himself in the classroom, Hill will be eligible to play with the Pirates in 2011.
