CUSA Baseball Race Down To an Exciting End
Coming into the final weekend of CUSA baseball Rice and UCF are at the top to stay. Rice and UCF are tied with identical 15 – 6 records headed into their showdown this weekend to conclude the regular season. Rice and UCF are guaranteed the top two spots in the final regular season standings. The winner of the weekend series will finish the season as the #1seed in next week’s tournament and the loser will be the #2 seed in next week’s tournament. The #3-#6 seeds are still up for grabs heading into the weekend series. Tulane (12-9), Southern Miss (12-9), Easy Carolina (13-10-1), and Memphis (11-10) are all in the hunt for those spots. East Carolina, currently #3, has finished their conference portion of their season going into the weekend. Tulane, currently #4, owns the tie breakers over Southern Miss, East Carolina, and Memphis giving them a huge advantage when they battle Marshall this weekend as Marshall faces a must win situation. UAB hosts Southern Miss this weekend in a key series for the Golden Eagles. Memphis visits Houston as both teams are jockeying for position. UAB is looking as a solid lock for the #7 seed going into the CUSA Tournament. UAB trails current #6 Memphis by 3 games and leads current #8 Houston by 21/2 games. Houston and Marshall are left battling for the 8th and final spot in the CUSA Tournament. Going into this weekend Houston leads Marshall by 1 1/2 games. Houston also owns the tie-breaker over Marshall this season.
