Golden Knights take control early against Wildcats
UCF pushed across four in the first and never looked back on Wednesday when it collected an 8-1 win over Bethune-Cookman.
The Golden Knights, who improved to 30-19 with the victory, received a three-run double by Ryan Breen in that four-run first inning.
It remained 4-0 until the sixth when Bethune-Cookman got on the board via a wild pitch.
UCF got that run back in the bottom of the inning as the result of three walks and a hit batter. The Wildcats escaped further trouble when the Knights hit into a rare 3-2-3 inning ending double play.
Terry Rooney’s club put the game away with three runs in the eighth.
Durapau allowed four runs on four hits and four walks in five innings, as he suffered the loss for Bethune-Cookman.
UCF managed just six hits in the game, but it produced eight runs as a result of being issued nine walks.
