Football Bowl Games
As any CUSA fan will know, the conference sends teams to seven different bowl games throughout the country. Here's a brief lowdown of each of those games.
Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl
This bowl was first played in 2008, although it was originally known as the magicJack St. Petersburg Bowl. It takes place once a year at the Tropicana Field in Florida, despite the fact that this arena was originally designed for baseball games.
New Orleans Bowl
This NCAA certified game takes place post-season each year at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans. This makes it one of the most popular games with players who don't want to spend the off season simply training, or playing online games at sites like www.Partypoker.com. It involves CUSA teams against the winners of the Sun Belt Conference.
Armed Forces Bowl
Another post-season game, the Armed Forces Bowl takes place at the Amon G. Carter Stadium on the campus of Texas Christian University, although in recent years it has been held at the Gerald J. Ford Stadium on the campus of Southern Methodist University while reconstruction work takes place.
Hawaii Bowl
This National Collegiate Athletic Association Football Bowl Subdivision game has been played annually at the Aloha Stadium in Honolulu for the past nine years. What makes this game especially unusual is that the matches are usually played on either Christmas Day or Christmas Eve each year.
Liberty Bowl
Another game which took place each December, until recent years. The Liberty Bowl is also a relatively high profile game, which is televised nationally on ESPN. This is also one of the oldest games around, with a history dating back as far as 1959.
Military Bowl
This game was previously known as the EagleBank Bowl, and takes place at the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington, D.C. The Military Bowl features teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference playing against CUSA member teams, unless one of the conferences does not have enough teams bowl eligible, in which case the Army Black Knights become eligible to play.
TicketCity Bowl
This is an extremely new game, which was played for the first time on New Years Day, 2011. This game takes place at the Cotton Bowl in Fair Park, Texas, replacing the Cotton Bowl Classic, which moved to the Cowboys Stadium in 2010.
