Conference USA Basketball - NIT Recap - UTEP 85, Lipscomb 66
UTEP used a 66.7% shooting first half to help rout the Lipscomb Bisons in the Opening Round of the National Invitational Tournament on Tuesday.
Forward Jason Williams booked the school's first ever triple double with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. Three other Texas-El Paso players scored in double figures. Guard Stefon Jackson scored 22 followed by guards Edgar Moreno and Kevin Henderson with 13 points each.
The Miners led 44-23 at halftime and Lipscomb ran off some runs, but each one of them were answered by the Miners. Texas-El Paso shot 57.7 percent from the field and 58.3 percent from 3-poinr range for the game.
The Miners, 21-9, head to Michigan for the next round of the NIT Thursday night. The Bisons closed out their season with a 21-11 record.
